Who can use Simple?
They want to make Simple as widely available as possible. However, there are a few basic requirements. They can only offer accounts to individuals that meet the following criteria:

1. U.S. Citizen
2. At Least 18 Years of Age
3. Valid Social Security Number
Is the Simple Card a Credit Card?
No, the Simple Visa Card is a pre-paid debit card issued by one of their partner banks. You can use it anywhere Visa debit cards are accepted, and at ATMs.

Since it’s a debit card, transactions that exceed your available balance will normally be declined. They don’t charge overdraft fees or interest.

Your credit will never be checked or effected by using the Simple card.
Why does Simple need my SSN?
This card offer is only available to residents of the United States, and requires a valid Social Security Number to verify your identity.

Your SSN will also be submitted to the IRS for tax purposes in the event that you earn the minimum reportable amount of income through the Simple referral program.
Can I use Simple if I live outside the U.S.?
Not yet—They're only able to offer accounts to U.S. citizens who live within the country. If you live outside the U.S., they won’t be able to offer you an account, and if you move internationally after opening a Simple account, they may have to close it.

(You can definitely use Simple if you’re just traveling internationally, though.)
Does Simple charge fees?
1. If you use an ATM outside of their fee-free network, the ATM owner may charge a fee.

2. If you use your Simple card internationally, Visa will include an International Service Assessment (ISA) fee of up to 1% of the total transaction amount.
How do I deposit funds?
There’s a plethora of options. Direct deposit is the easiest way to fund your account. You can also transfer funds electronically from an account at another institution, or deposit a check by taking a photo of it with their mobile app. They can also accept deposits by mail.
How does Simple make money if they don’t charge fees?
Great question. There are two ways they make money at Simple.

1. Although they love technology, they don’t knock tradition. In the past, banks made most of their profits off interest margin—the difference between the amount of interest they make on loans, and the interest they pay customers on their deposits. Their partner banks split this interest margin with Simple.

2. When you swipe your debit card, the merchant pays a service fee (called interchange) to the issuing bank. Their partners split this fee with them.

That’s it, which means they only make money when their customers use and love their accounts...
Account setup takes less than 60 seconds...
